Fine Art Print
As I passed a pile of sticks one day, the Holy Spirit stopped me. In my spirit I saw Isaac carrying the firewood on his back for his own sacrifice. Then I saw the man Jesus picking up sticks as tinder, contemplating the Abrahamic story, as well as the foreshadowing of His own sacrifice to come. The gathering of firewood also symbolizes the lowly, mundane tasks of earth. There are so many small moments of Jesus’ life that we know nothing about, but I imagine He often did small, loving deeds like this one to serve others. In this painting, Jesus is depicted with His crucifixion scars and wearing modern clothing to show that He not only acted in love when He walked on the earth hundreds of years ago, but that His love still comes low today.
