One day, I was contemplating the way the Holy Spirit descended like a dove. I’ve often seen depictions of an ordinary, small, white dove, but I wondered if the dove could have looked different than what we expect… John knew that the dove’s descent was a huge moment, and that it was not just an ordinary dove, especially since it came with the powerful, audible voice of God. I felt led to depict a dove that matched the magnitude of the moment; looming large over their heads.
